Ghana and Switzerland authorise largest Article 6.2 E-Cooking Project with UpEnergy and KliK Foundation
Kampala, Uganda — 01 December 2025 — Ghana and Switzerland have signed Letters of Authorisation for an UpEnergy partnership with the KliK Foundation to expand access to modern, zero-emissions electric cooking (e-cooking) across Ghana under Article 6.2. This authorisation is the first Article 6.2 electric-cooking activity to be approved globally and is expected to be the largest of its kind once implementation begins.

In parallel, UpEnergy will strengthen supply chains in Ghana by supporting the manufacture and distribution of 170,000 fuel-efficient cookstoves nationally, supporting households without access to adequate electricity. A fraction of these stoves will be fitted with digital thermal sensors, applied in a randomized sampling approach, to digitize monitoring of real-world cooking events.
We’re grateful to the Governments of Ghana and Switzerland and to the KliK Foundation for their trust and partnership in accelerating access to cleaner, modern cooking across Greater Accra, Ashanti, Eastern, and Central regions.
