UpEnergy's Nigeria Project Delivers First CORSIA Eligible Emissions Units following Nigeria's Article 6 Authorisation
Following the recent Letter of Authorisation provided by Nigeria’s National Council on Climate Change (NCCC) under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, the first CORSIA Eligible Emissions Units (CEEUs) from UpEnergy's Nigeria clean cooking project (VCS2673) have now been tagged for use under CORSIA.
CEEUs have now been tagged from UpEnergy's Nigeria project (VCS2673). The project-level Letters of Authorisation issued by the NCCC provide forward visibility across the full crediting period, covering approximately 4 million tonnes and enabling UpEnergy’s sustained investment in production and distribution of cleaner, energy saving stoves.
This follows on VCS2673 becoming the first project to receive CCP-labelling under Verra's VM0050 methodology.
The milestone marks an important step in Nigeria's implementation of Article 6 and reflects the continued collaboration between the National Council on Climate Change (NCCC), under the leadership of Mrs Omotenioye Majekodunmi, Director General, and project developers.
