UpEnergy's Tanzania project becomes eligible for CORSIA Phase 1 under Verra's VM0050 methodology
Following Tanzania's first Article 6 authorisation, UpEnergy's Community Carbon project (VCS2676) has now become eligible for CORSIA Phase 1 under Verra's VM0050 methodology.
A total of 142,504 tonnes have now been tagged on the Verra registry, representing the first CORSIA Eligible Emissions Units (CEEUs) from Tanzania issued under Verra's VM0050 methodology. These CEEUs are also certified under SD VISta, providing independent verification of their sustainable development outcomes. While these initial CEEUs have already been placed with a compliance-focused buyer, further CORSIA eligible volumes are expected from the project this year and throughout the remainder of the CORSIA First Phase (CP1).
We are grateful to the Government of Tanzania and the National Carbon Monitoring Centre for their continued support in advancing Article 6 implementation and international climate cooperation.
This milestone builds on the recent Letter of Authorisation secured in Nigeria and Zambia reflecting UpEnergy's continued progress across CORSIA, CCP aligned projects and Article 6 activities in Africa.
